"Rainbows are silent, but they don't need to be loud to announce the end of the storm." This is what Estelle answered when she was asked why such a seemingly shy and introvert girl such as Constance is her best friend.
This exaclty what I think about my own Best Friend Nimoy.
I am a punk, I have the most questionable hairdos, I dress like an apocalyptic Tank Girl on a bad day, I am loud, I am explosive, I am drawn to everything that is considered as badass, I have no ability to be soft and tender let alone romantic, I swear more than any pirate that ever lived, I have a short temper and I am cptsd on two legs with a million triggers, a million issues, and not so long ago, when there supposedly was an intruder on my property at night, i was out with my baseball bate and my knife; because no one comes near my children WHILE NIMOY WAS ON THE PHONE WITH ME.
I am a terrible mess.
Just like Estelle, I have no idea at all why someone so calm, in control, intelligent, cultured, educated, wise, would be my best friend. But just as Estelle does with Constance; I just enjoy the ride or die with Nimoy and I am grateful for it. She brought me to a point where I cannot question it ( which is truly an exploit for I doubt everything, even myself, more than anybody does), so I am just living it.
Nimoy is the silent rainbow that announces the end of my storm every night of my life.
Now that being said, I don't really believe that opposites attract one another. I just don't. If the delivery is very different, I realized through so many years of tighter than heart surgery stitches friendship, that Nimoy and I are at the core, the same. We are. For those who know her, and almost all of you do; it may come as a shock. But facts are here, secrets shared on both ends to never be shared outside of that place that we created, where we live together; speak for themselves and we simply are a different shape of the same cloth.
I am a dark loud terrible thunder, she is the magical unspeakably beautiful rainbow; and one can't go without the other as they originate from the same storm.
While Estelle will go riding wild sea turtles, Constance will collect seashells, knowing everything about them. While Estelle dives in dangerous reefs, Constance will wisely calculate the safest spot to dive in while preparing bandaids. As Estelle has a sudden huge idea that is most of the time questionably bonkers; Constance lays out the plan to make it come to fruition. When Estelle wonders something, Constance has the answer from one of the millions of books she read. When Constance needs a laugh, Estelle can go to any length to make it happen. In this friendship, one is vice and the other is versa. The street is a two way non stop traffic that has become just two rays of light going to and coming from one another.
It might come as a surprise, but Constance sees that in the middle of that blaring pandemomiun, Estelle is smart. On the other hand, Estelle sees that under that apparent stillness and calm, Constance is brave.
These two, have had the chance of a lifetime to find one another.
You would believe that Estelle is at the root of their friendship. Not at all. Constance did it. Because Estelle is shier than it seems.
